Neighbors,

Please attend the quarterly meeting of the Barton Hills Neighborhood Association on Tuesday, July 28th, at St. Marks Episcopal Church. Dinner will be served at 6:00pm and the meeting will start at 7:00pm.

BHNA Treasurer David Poisson will preside over the meeting. The City Council has appointed me to the Planning Commission. It meets that night, so I cannot be at the BHNA meeting. BHNA Vice-President Carlisle Hamling will be out of town that night, so presiding officer duties have fallen to David.

The agenda is as follows:

1. Meeting convenes.

2. Brief announcements.

3. Discussion of BHNA elections at the October 2016 BHNA meeting. Request for volunteers to serve on Nominations Committee to recruit 2016 officers.

4. Committee and Officer Reports:

Treasurer
Austin Neighborhoods Council
Area Development
Neighborhood Park Improvement
Neighborhood Watch
Emergency Preparedness
Community Partnerships

5. Presentation regarding possible bond proposition for a new Civil and Family Courts Complex.

6. Presentation regarding future parking plans for Austin City Limits and other major events in Zilker Park.

7. Other business.

Neighbors,

The April 28th BHNA meeting will be special because it will be held at the Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum on Robert E. Lee Dr., rather than at St. Mark’s Church.

Umlauf will be open at 5:00pm to anyone who wants to tour it. As usual, dinner and socializing will begin at 6:00pm, and the meeting will begin at 7:00pm.

Here’s the agenda:

  1. Call to order.
  2. Brief announcements.
  3. Welcome, and history of and future plans for Umlauf, from Umlauf Executive Director.
  4. Vote on BHNA bylaw amendment to allow online voting.
  5. Committee Reports from Officers and Committee Chairs.
  6. Presentation from Central Texas Mobility Authority on proposal to build flyovers over Lady Bird Lake as part of MOPAC South highway expansion.
  7. Presentation from U.S. Department of Agriculture on issues with coyotes in urban settings.
  8. Discussion of proposed changes to parking plans for ACL.
  9. Other issues.
  10. Adjourn.

discussion-icon

NEIGHBORS–BHNA meets Tuesday, January 27th, at St. Mark’s Church. As usual, we’ll serve dinner at 6:00 pm and start the BHNA meeting at 7:00 pm. The agenda:

1. Presentation on the South Lamar Corridor Study. Here’s your opportunity to tell the City what you think and/or want to ask the City about the problems the apartments being built on Lamar.

2, A dialog with District 5 City Council Member (and, coincidentally, Barton Hills resident) ANN KITCHEN about our and her priorities for District 5 for the next few years.

3. A discussion, but no action, on proposals for INCREASING INVOLVEMENT in BHNA decisions, including offering child care for attendees at BHNA meetings, online voting, or other measures.

4. A discussion, but no action, on whether Barton Hills should pursue approval of a NEIGHBORHOOD PLAN by the City of Austin.

The subject matter of this meeting is much more meaty than most, so if you’re deciding whether this is one you should make time for, I’m telling you that it is.

Regards,
Tom
BHNA Prez
