Barton Hills Neighborhood Independence Day Parade

July 4th we assemble at Barton Hills Market at 8:30AM

Parade starts at 9AM

The procession is led by Austin Fire Department Station 11 fire truck.  Travis County Constable Office Precinct 3 will be providing traffic control for the event.  After walking the short distance over the rolling Hills of Barton, we will conclude at Barton Hills Elementary Playground for the after Party.  

We encourage everyone to wear their Red, White and Blue!  Fly your flags, decorate your yard, especially along the parade route!

There will be prizes for the TOP 3 in the following categories:

  • Decorated Bicycles
  • Wagons/Carts
  • Most Patriotic Pooch
  • Most Patriotic Dressed Neighbor
  • Best Cookies 

If you have a classic car, sports car, monster truck or fancy Harley we welcome you to join the procession. Please feel free to decorate your vehicle. If you want to make a float please do!

Of note, this is a family event and we are not allowing commercial advertising on vehicles and/or floats. We can all live without advertising and commercials for a few hours. 

After parade party will be held at Barton Hills Elementary.

It is almost time for our traditional Barton Hills 4th of July Parade and Celebration!

Almost time to decorate our bicycles, wagons, strollers, and pets and dress in our best red, white & blue finery and step out to parade down Barton Hills Drive from Barton Hills Market to Barton Hills Elementary School, or wave to our neighbors as they parade past. This is the time to see and be seen in the neighborhood.

A schedule of the parade and celebration is below. I hope to see you next Monday.

Hi neighbors,

It is officially summer and that means preparations are underway for the Barton Hills 4th of July parade. Mark your calendars and come out and celebrate everything that makes America and our neighborhood so fantastic!

Everyone is invited to participate in the parade and the activities afterwards. Doll up your bicycle, dress up your wagon, and get into the festive spirit by either marching in the parade or cheering everyone else on. There are prizes for best parade entries – so GO ALL OUT with your floats, bikes, wagons and costumes.

Here’s the scoop:

Date: July 4th
Time: Muster at the Barton Hills Market at 8:30, parade starts at 9 am. Parade participants move from the Market to the elementary school.
Who: Fire Chief Rhoda Mae Kerr will lead the parade and serve as Grand Marshall
Who: Sara Hickman will emcee and will sing the national anthem with the Barton Hills Elementary Choir!
Who: You, your kids, your parents, your Aunt Silvia, friends from other neighborhoods, your dog, your ferret (okay, maybe the ferret should stay home, but please invite everyone else!)
What: A parade, then cookies, watermelon, games, snow cones, and music afterwards at Barton Hills Elementary.

IT IS FUN!! And a great way to celebrate the best neighborhood in Austin – BARTON HILLS!!

We are looking for volunteers to help. Please email me or call me know if you can:

1. Bring cookies (2 dozen) (bring to elementary school by 8 am)
2. Bring watermelon (bring to elementary school by 8 am)
3. Cut watermelon the day of the parade.
4. Decorate the day of the parade
5. Help with games the day of the parade.

This event takes a village and the executive committee cannot do it alone. Please, please help.
