July 4 Parade Photos

Chuck Ragland, driver of the classic Mustang pictured above, shared this photo of Parade Queens Melissa Hawthorne and Mary Ann Neely waving symbolic branches of ligustrum and nandina, two invasive species that our Greenbelt Guardians work so diligently to remove to allow native species to thrive in our nearby parkland.

Jennifer Ellen Cook sang the national anthem at the Celebration held on the Barton Hills Elementary playground after the Parade. Check out her pictures from the event here.

 

Hats off to Kay Killen!

Many thanks to Kay Killen, a long-standing neighbor and activist in Barton Hills. She is moving after more than 16 years of service to the neighborhood. We say “Hats off to you, Kay!” We wish you well in all your future endeavors and you will always have an honorary membership here.

The annual Barton Hills 4th of July Parade and Picnic were a smashing success, with beautiful weather and an excellent turnout of participants and spectators to celebrate America’s independence.
