Guardians of the Greenbelt,

Our next workday is coming up fast: the Austin Parks Foundation’s fall “It’s My Park Day” on Saturday November 4th.  We’ll be working from 9:00 – 12:00 at the Barton Creek Greenbelt Homedale access, 2010 Homedale Drive.  In conjunction with our partners at Austin Parks and Rec, we’ll be doing some trail repairs and runoff management, building some rock steps, removing invasives, trimming and weeding, removing graffiti, and picking up trash in the area.

Registration is open now!  Please go to the Austin Parks Foundation’s Get Pulse website here to sign up for our project. You can also reply to this email if you have any questions or problems with online registration.

As always, we’ll have breakfast tacos for everyone and plenty of water to refill your bottles. We have tasks that are appropriate for a wide range of ages and skill sets, so don’t think you’re too old or young to help!  (We love kids, but younger ones should be sure to bring a parent along with them. Under 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign the waiver.)  We’ll provide the team leaders and tools needed for all of the tasks.  Please bring a water bottle, a pair of work gloves (if you have them), and wear closed-toe shoes.  Long pants and long sleeves will help to protect against poison ivy which, like everything else, is thriving in the greenbelt now due to all the rain we’ve had this year.

We’re looking forward to another good workday and hoping that a lot of you can join us!

Thanks,
Stan Ostrum
