BHNA BYLAW REVISIONS

Over the past year, we noticed that the existing Bylaws have aged, so we want to put some changes in front of the membership. Some specific points include:

  • Updated job descriptions, particularly for the Community Projects Coordinator and Corresponding Secretary, whose roles have changed over the years.
  • Updating the Vice President description to be less about managing the membership roles.  Given how membership roles have been linked with payment, this has effectively shifted over to the Treasurer in their role.
  • A rigorous process for helping with membership counseling and possible removal was added. Previously, the President conducted membership outreach, which made things seem personal when they were not.
  • Numerous grammatical changes.
Attached are printable copies of the proposed 2025 bylaws and the previously approved 2018 bylaws.  Paragraphs that saw major revisions are marked [Revised 2025].  Changes addressing grammar and formatting issues were not marked with revisions.

I will discuss this at tomorrow’s meeting.   As you find things, please feel free to reach out directly via email or ListServ.   We want a final draft available no later than the end of June.  The Executive Committee will then review and advance to a final vote at the July meeting.
