Greenbelt Guardians logo

Spring has finally arrived, and we are excited to get outside and do some much-needed work on the greenbelt trail. We will be working on the Homedale Trail and across the creek near the Spyglass entry. As always, we will provide tools and team leaders for all of the tasks, and some breakfast tacos to get us off to a good start. We will be working on: 1) trail maintenance and repair, 2) invasives management, 3) construction of a stone retaining wall to support the wooden bridge that floated off of its moorings during a flood, and 4) trash pick-up. We hope lots of you will come out and work with us to care for this very special place in our city.

This work day celebrates the 10th annual It’s My Park Day event sponsored by the Austin Parks Foundation, and volunteers who sign up in advance will receive a specially designed T-shirt for the event, plus a Chipotle gift card and some wildflower seeds. Come celebrate a festive anniversary and do some good work with us! To sign up, go to:

2013 Trail of Lights information

tol-logo

The Trail of Lights is a treasured Austin tradition that delights thousands of children and adults alike during the holiday season. Since the event is held in Zilker Park and involves nightly closure of Barton Springs Road from Dec. 7 through Dec. 22, it impacts our neighborhood significantly. The City has worked closely with our Neighborhood Association to address concerns including neighborhood parking, access to the Park and Barton Springs pool, and increased traffic on our residential streets.

The City has provided us with a wealth of information included below to help you prepare for the Trail of Lights.
