Greenbelt Fans,

We’ve got another big work day planned for Saturday, June 4, from 8:30 – Noon. We will be celebrating National Trails Day down on the greenbelt – giving it the TLC it deserves and needs, in exchange for the countless gifts it provides for us. We will have work teams at both Gus Fruh Trail (2642 Barton Hills Dr) and the Homedale Trail (2101 Homedale Dr). There will be some trail repair work, some rock work, invasives & weed removal, and trash pick-up. As always, we will provide tools and team leaders, and a yummy taco energy booster to get us started. Also, there will be a complementary lunch gathering and celebration afterwards at Zilker Park near Barton Springs afterwards, organized by Hill Country Conservancy.

This work day is being planned in conjunction with several other service groups, and the Austin Parks Foundation is providing the overall registration sign-up on their website. I would also appreciate it if you would rsvp to this email so we can do our detailed planning for our two trail heads.

Thanks so much for your continued interest and support of the greenbelt. We’re looking forward to another rewarding work day.

Greenbelt Fans,

This year’s annual citywide It’s My Park Day event, sponsored by the Austin Parks Foundation, is scheduled for Saturday March 5. Our BHNA Greenbelt Guardians group will be participating again, working at both the Gus Fruh and Homedale entries to the Barton Creek Greenbelt. You can participate at the site of your choice, and we will provide skilled team leaders, tools, and tasks at each site.

At both sites we will be doing trail repairs and maintenance, continuing with our invasive plant removal activities, and doing some deadwood and brush rearranging to improve erosion management and discourage rogue trails.  And as always, we will be picking up cans, bottles, and other trash.

Please RSVP here, and also register online at the Austin Parks Foundation’s It’s My Park! Day website at www.austinparks.org. Our events are listed as: Greenbelt Guardians: Homedale Entry at Barton Creek and Greenbelt Guardians: Gus Fruh Entry at Barton Creek.  If you search by park name, they’re both under Barton Creek Greenbelt East.

NOTE: be sure to register online if you want a t-shirt!

The work day is from 9:00 – 12:00, and as usual we’ll start the morning off with some great breakfast tacos for energy before getting to work.  At the end of the day, you’ll look with pride at your accomplishments.  It’s always amazing what teamwork can do!

We’re hoping to see lots of veterans and lots of newcomers.
