Greenbelt Guardians workday November 5

Greenbelt Guardians logo

Dear Greenbelt Guardian volunteer,

We’re really late getting a notice out this time, but we have another workday coming up in 2 weeks and need your help.

We’ll be working on Saturday November 5th, 9:00 – 1:00 at the Gus Fruh access as part of the Austin Park Foundation’s new fall It’s My Park Day event. We’ll be doing trail repairs, building rock steps, removing invasives, trimming and weeding, and picking up trash.

If you’re available to work with us that day, please go to the APF GetPulse website and register online for our project here.

We redid our website recently (www.greenbeltguardians.org) and are committed to keeping it current, so check it out when you have a chance.
Looking forward to a good workday on Nov. 5 and hoping that you can join us!

Thanks,
Stan and Glee

Oct. 25 BHNA General Meeting Agenda

bhna-general-meeting

Hi Neighbors,

Below is the agenda for the BHNA meeting coming up in two weeks on October 25th. Of note we will have the project directors of the traffic calming/bike lane projects speaking as a follow up to the project. We will also have a representative from the new Bluebonnet Studio apartment talking about their completed affordable housing apartment at South Lamar and Del Curto.

Last but not least, it will be elections for the 2017 BHNA executive committee. At this point we have the Vice President and Austin Neighborhood Council positions open.

This is your chance to become involved in our neighborhood and continue to make it the best in Austin. We have a very politically active and progressive neighborhood, and a great group of people on the executive committee working for the neighborhood. For all of those who feel things should or could be different, this is your chance to contribute and help direct the future of our neighborhood. Step up to the plate and join us. It is painless !!!

See you on the 25th!

David Poisson

The following information was provided by the City of Austin and C3 Presents to help our neighborhood prepare for the upcoming Austin City Limits Music Festival:

ACL Music Festival will take place over two consecutive weekends: Friday, September 30th at 11am to Sunday, October 2th at 10pm and Friday, October 7th at 11am to Sunday, October 9th at 10pm. Please see the map on the following page for closures. Preparatory closures are beginning the Friday before and will remain in place until the Monday after the festival.

Barton Springs Pool is open at all times during normal hours. During festival days parking is protected at the south gate lot off Robert E. Lee for pool swimmers. In addition, Auditorium Shores will be open at all times for general and off-leash use.

Zilker Park, and all Austin parks, are non-smoking venues. Festival patrons will be directed to smoke outside the festival gates on the street. All passholders will be allowed to exit and re-enter the Festival grounds during the event. If you choose to smoke outside of the Festival, be mindful and responsibly discard cigarettes.

SCHEDULED CLOSURES
This year Barton Springs Road will be closed on festival show days to all vehicle traffic starting at Sterzing Street. Cars will be able to make a u-turn on Barton Springs Road OR turn right onto Sterzing Street and be directed to South Lamar Blvd. This closure will reduce the amount of vehicles allowed into the neighborhoods and will create a safe crossing for pedestrians at Robert E Lee and Barton Springs Road.
