Thank YOU for your support and donations. Over 200 neighbors, school staff, and sponsors attended our March 7th fundraiser, helping us make over $26,000. Monies are dedicated to new playground equipment and enhancements to be implemented later this year. This adds to the $40,000 city grant that will used for irrigation, erosion control and other Phase I park infrastructure efforts. We continue to accept donations. Friends and Neighbors:

The Barton Hills Neighborhood Association invites you to the 2nd Annual Spring Fling on Saturday, April 13th from 5PM to 7PM

Bring your picnic supper, cooler, blankets and the whole family. Join your friends and neighbors for a Picnic in the Park. We’ll be in the shade of the trees in the northwest corner of the Barton Hills Elementary School park ( at the corner of Barton Hills Drive and Briarcrest).

Our very own superstar, Jennifer Ellen Cook, and her glorious band will provide fantastic musical entertainment.

Wildfowl expert, Sallie Delahoussaye, is bringing the ever popular Birds of Prey. Get a close up look at these fascinating birds!!!!

We’ll have a grand time. A limited number of tables and chairs will be available for those who do not care to picnic on the ground.

Note: Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on school grounds.

We had a blast last year. This year’s picnic should be bigger and better than ever.

See you there!!!

Greenbelt Guardian Workday, Saturday March 2

Greenbelt Guardians logo

Greenbelt Fans,

We hope you will help us celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Greenbelt Guardians by joining us at our upcoming work day on It’s My Park Day, Saturday, March 2, from 9 am to 1 pm!  We will be hosting volunteers at both the Homedale Trail (2010 Homedale Drive) and the Gus Fruh Trail (2642 Barton Hills Drive).

At both sites we will continue our work on invasive plant removal, minor trail repairs, and clean-up/trash removal. At Gus Fruh, work will also continue on the construction of  a retaining wall and steps by the swimming hole area.

We’re looking forward to getting back to the trail and doing our part to give back to this incredible resource right in the midst of our city. We hope you will join us.

Please RSVP directly by email if you plan to attend – we want to make sure we have plenty of Maria’s famous breakfast tacos to help get us started!

Also, please go to the website of the Austin Parks Foundation (www.austinparks.org/multi-project-list.html?eventid=567) to sign in there, so they will know how many tee shirts of what sizes to send to our work sites. Everyone who signs up and participates will get a commemorative tee shirt designed especially for this work day.

We are looking forward to seeing both lots of familiar faces and new comers – we will provide the tools, tasks, and team leaders so we can all have a productive day giving back to our greenbelt.
