2020 Trail of Lights Information

The City of Austin has provided us with the information below since the annual Trail of Lights at Zilker Park significantly affects access to our neighborhood.

Unlike recent years, Trail of Lights 2020 will be a drive through ONLY experience. November 29– January event nights, closed on nights for the STARS Program, and on Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year’s Day.

As such, all the normal road closures will not be in effect. From November 29th to January 3rd, Toomey, Sterzing, and Barton Springs Road will NOT be closed for Trail of Lights.

Enclosed vehicles only will queue up along Stratford from Red Bud/Lake Austin area for entrance into the Trail and no walk-ins will be allowed. Vehicles will be required to have advance passes. For safety, there are no on-site admission sales, and no viewing areas of the site from the roadway or park. Therefore, no parking will be necessary for Trail-goers.

October 20 General Meeting Cancelled

Due to social distancing requirements in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, our regular quarterly meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, October 20, 2020 has been cancelled.

At this time a new date has not been set as we await further developments. Watch this site and the Barton Hills Neighborhood Association email list for updates.

Dear Neighbors,

To recognize our graduating Seniors from Barton Hills we’re inviting the entire neighborhood to (safely) come out and cheer for our graduating seniors in a CAR PARADE on May 22, 2020 starting at 6:30pm. Parade route details and rules for parade participants and spectators are below.

We want YOU, each of YOU, to SUPPORT a SENIOR! It doesn’t have to be someone you know. Pick one or more senior. Follow this link to sign up to SUPPORT a SENIOR (or lots of seniors). You don’t have to make an account to sign up.

https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0F4BAAAC2EA64-support

Sign up and then get out your markers, your crayons, your glitter, your paint and make a sign, or banner, or something else fun and creative (and family-friendly) to SUPPORT a SENIOR! Think of how fun it will be for the seniors to see signs of congratulations and support along the route. Each senior has THREE sign up slots, and ther are 27 senior in our parade. Please, let’s fill up those slots and SUPPORT a SENIOR!

Not every senior attended Austin High, so in addition to her/his first name, the senior’s school, school colors, and mascot are included on the sign up form.

Thanks, Cindy Bogard and CherylAnne Campbell

The Parade begins at the Barton Hills Market on Friday May 22 at 6:30pm. There will be a lead car! The parade will proceed along the following route:
